Winning Writers finds and creates quality resources for poets and writers. It was founded by Jendi Reiter and Adam Cohen in 2001 and is located in Western Massachusetts, USA.
Winning Writers sponsors 4 annual contests:
1. The Wergle Flomp Humor Poetry Contest (this is a worldwide competition (with a few notable exceptions – see the criteria below – and no entry fee).
2. The North Street Book Prize for self-published and hybrid-published books.
3. The Tom Howard/John H. Reid Fiction & Essay Contest, and
4. The Tom Howard/Margaret Reid Poetry Contest.

THE WERGLE FLOMP HUMOR POETRY CONTEST
Submissions are now open for the Wergle Flomp Humor Poetry Contest to seek today’s best humour poems.
Entries should be in English. The deadline for entries is Monday 1st April 2024.
Prize Details
o First Prize: $2,000 (£1,570) plus a two-year gift certificate from the co-sponsor, Duotrope (a $100 value)
o Second Prize: $500 (£382).
o Third Prize: $250 (£191).
o Honorable Mentions: 10 awards of $100 (£78) each.
o Top 12 entries published online.
Criteria
o No fee to enter. Judge: Jendi Reiter, assisted by Lauren Singer.
o One poem only, please.
o Length limit: 250 lines maximum.
o No restriction on age of author.
o Both unpublished and previously published work accepted.
o Authors from all countries eligible except Syria, Iran, North Korea, Crimea, Russia, and Belarus (due to US government restrictions).
o The poem you submit should be in English.
o Inspired gibberish is also accepted.
