The role of Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprises (VCSEs) in public procurement (report from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS)

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has just published findings from quantitative analysis and qualitative research into current levels of Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise participation in public sector procurement and future growth potential.

The DCMS Civil Society and Youth directorate commissioned Perspective Economics to explore four key areas:

o The current levels of participation in public procurement by VCSEs.
o The growth potential, and factors influencing growth potential for VCSEs.
o The barriers facing VCSEs, and how these might be addressed through policy, and
o The implications for policy and commissioning, with particular focus on political, economic, social, technological, legal and ethical and environmental (PESTLE) factors.

The report can be accessed for free on the GOV.UK website. Key Findings and Recommendations start on page 49.
