Applications are now open for the Earthshot Prize to support UK-based organisations with innovative environmental solutions. Winners will receive £1 million to develop and scale their solutions. 15 finalists will also receive access to The Earthshot Fellowship programme.
The deadline for submitting an Expression of Interest is Wednesday 9th September 2026 at midnight.
The Earthshot Prize is a global initiative designed to discover, celebrate, and scale the most impactful solutions to the planet’s most pressing environmental challenges. Launched to accelerate progress by 2030, the prize has become a leading platform for environmental innovation, supporting projects that demonstrate measurable impact and the potential for transformative change.
The programme focuses on 5 key areas (the 5 Earthshots):
1. Protecting and Restoring Nature.
2. Cleaning Our Air.
3. Reviving Our Oceans.
4. Building a Waste-Free World, and
5. Fixing Our Climate.
Solutions are expected to deliver large-scale or global positive environmental and/or social impact, be disruptive in their sector, and offer the potential for rapid scaling or replication.
Winners of The Earthshot Prize each receive £1 million to develop and scale their solutions, while all 15 finalists gain access to The Earthshot Fellowship programme, which provides a year of support including financial, networking, and partnership opportunities.
Eligible applicants include:
o Individuals.
o Teams.
o For-profit businesses.
o Start-ups.
o Not-for-profit and grassroots organisations.
o Local or national government, and
o Collaborative partnerships.
Projects must be beyond the concept stage, have demonstrated environmental impact, and offer innovative, technologically feasible solutions aligned with one or more of the 5 Earthshots (see above).
