The think tank New Philanthropy Capital (NPC) has published a new, free 10 step handbook to creating a theory of change, which built on many years of developing them for charities and funders.
Theory of change is seen as the foundation of charity strategy, evaluation and communication.
Throughout work and personal lives we have aims and ideas about how to achieve them, but we may not always take the time to think these through, scrutinise and articulate them. A theory of change process encourages us to reflect on our aims and plans, to discuss them with others and to make them explicit.
The guide gives charities and funders the information they need to undertake any theory of change, enabling them to think through their work and provide the best services possible, and is directly applicable to smaller projects and charitable services.
