Ministry of Justice announces new £5 million Youth Justice Sport Fund to tackle poverty (the programme opened to applications on 7 November 2022 with a deadline for applications of 5 December 2022)

Charities across England and Wales will be able to bid for new money to run programmes designed to steer young people away from law-breaking and into positive activities aimed at teaching teamwork, resilience and discipline.

Charities and organisations wanting to deliver sports programmes will be able to bid for the money – with hundreds of organisations expected to benefit from the funding.

StreetGames and the Ministry of Justice opened the grant programme, which has the title “Youth Justice Sport Fund” on Monday 7th November 2022 with a deadline for applications of Monday 5th December 2022.

Briefing sessions on the Fund have been scheduled for: 

o Tuesday 8th November 2022, 4.00 – 5.30pm.
o Wednesday 9th November 2022, 12.00 – 1.30pm, and
o Thursday 10th November 2022, 10.30 – 12pm.
