Job Opportunity: Venue and Events Manager at The Woodlands Presents CIC

o Job type: Part-time.
o Hours: 16 hours per week (with a possibility to increase to 20 hours dependent on bookings).
o Working days: Flexibly throughout the week and occasional weekends – dependent on events schedule.

About the role:

“The Woodland Presents runs a successful all year-round indoor/outdoor woodland venue called The Glade, based in North Woods, Dartington. The venue is predominantly used for community training and workshops, wellbeing events, holistic activities, and occasional private hires. We’re looking for someone to manage the events and bookings side of the venue, nurture and improve the space, and build on the relationships with our existing customers and new clients. The role will be varied and never boring, you will need to be flexible and energetic, and you’ll have support from friendly co-workers in this small social team. This person will work in line with the organisation’s mission and values, reporting to the Director who manages the venue development.

“We are a non-profit organisation and operate on a flat pay structure, so the more money we make as a team, the more we all earn. Currently the organisation has a basic rate of £10.50 p/h, however this role has the possibility of £15.00 p/h for any hosting work taken on during client events (dependent on demand).

“The Woodlands Presents is an exciting and ever-changing organisation, should you be the right person, there could be future opportunities to integrate further into the organisation and its project work.

Main responsibility and duties will include:

“The job will be varied and changeable according to the bookings schedule, so you’ll need to be adaptable to manage the below tasks:

o Handling enquiries and bookings, listening to the needs of our users and how we might accommodate them within our boundaries.
o Coordinating logistics and operational requirements of booked events.
o Administrational duties, invoicing and keeping financial spreadsheets up to date.
o Managing venue email and phone line account.
o Maintaining the upkeep and cleanliness of the venue, along with the weekly cleaner.
o Leading ‘show-rounds’ of the venue.
o Advertising client events on the website and social media pages.
o Stocktaking events equipment, hiring out and checking its undamaged return.
o Reporting any major maintenance issues to other relevant staff members.
o Ensuring health and safety protocols are followed.
o Helping to plan and organise events run by TWP.
o Attending internal team meetings as needed.
o Willingness to get involved with the mission of the organisation, and
o Creating your own ideas and thoughts to bring to the role

Who we are looking for:

“We are searching for someone special who will bring our woodland services to another level, and our ideal candidate will have the following:

o Super organised and a multi-tasker, you can get things done efficiently and on time.
o Love hosting and engaging with people, you want to take care of bookers and guests.
o Excellent at managing your own time, and are flexible with changing shift patterns.
o Has an astute eye for detail within all aspects of the job.
o Has working knowledge of computer programmes such as Google Drive, Excel or similar.
o shows initiative and has a keen interest to learn and develop new skills.
o Loves to work outdoors and in woodlands, no matter what the weather.
o Worked in a similar role managing a venue/and or events would be a great advantage.
o Comfortable taking charge of your own workload, and can work collectively as a team, and
o Has a driving licence (needed for the company jeep).


o £10.50p/h (with occasional extra hosting work for clients at £15 p/h).
