Shallal, an inclusive arts and dance charity based in Cornwall, which aims to make the arts accessible to a wide range of the community, is currently seeking applicants to the post of:

Finance Manager (temporary post) – Shallal Dance Theatre

Inclusive Dance Theatre company Shallal is looking for an experienced Finance Manager for a 6 month – 1 year period to cover staff sickness.  Are you super efficient with accounts? Do you have an interest and understanding in the arts and inclusivity?

The job description reads:

FINANCE MANAGER 

o Hours: up to 8 hours per week
o Rate of Pay: £20.00 per hour.
o Location: working from home and attending various meetings and Shallal events.
o All shortlisted applicants will be required to submit themselves for a DBS (Disclosure and Baring Service) check.
o Shallal does not currently employ staff so the Finance Manager will need to be in a position to invoice
Shallal for their time.
o The period of engagement will initially be for 6 months (sickness cover) and may be extended to 1 year.

Role Summary:

Shallal wishes to appoint a Finance Manager who will support the maintenance and development of Shallal’s business and systems.

The Finance Manager will report directly to the Shallal Chair of Trustees and will liaise with all Trustees,
facilitators and company members.

Key Responsibilities: Accounting

o Ensuring that all claims for payment are associated with the correct funding source and are valid
expenditure for that source.
o Ensuring that all claims for payment are accompanied by evidence of expenditure
o Meeting with facilitators on a regular basis to collect post and cash income from sessions.
o Banking cash from sessions.
o Recording expenditure and income correctly in the accounts using the Quickbooks system.
o Producing an income and expenditure management report for operational and trustee teams.
o Overseeing the preparation of the Annual Report.
Administrative
o Monitoring and administrating the Shallal e-mail account.
o Co-ordinating the completion of and submitting of monitoring reports to funding agencies.
o Ensuring good filing systems are in place and dealing with post that comes to the Shallal postal address.
o Co-ordinating and Recording Trustee meetings and operational business meetings.
 Overseeing and managing the online IT storage and filing – Dropbox and Google Drive.”
