“Horizons  (Plymouth)  is  a  Charitable  Company  Limited  by  Guarantee. It  has  been  registered  with the  Charity  Commission  since  1994  and has  an  annual  expenditure  of around  £120,000. Our  aim is  to  provide  children  from  the  inner-city  communities  of  Plymouth,  learning  and educational  opportunities  through  sailing.   We  particularly  aim  to  support  children  with  disabilities or  children  who  have  experienced  disadvantage  or deprivation.  Our activities  aim to  increase  self-confidence  and  improve  social  and  practical  skills,  through  water-based  pursuits,  that  would normally  be  beyond  the means of  these  children. We operate  with  a core  of  three  professional  staff,  together  with  a  large  group  of  adult  volunteers. Every  year  we  run  over  3,000  individual  sessions,  involving  hundreds  of  young  people  aged  8  to  19 years.
