Horizons (Plymouth) Children’s Sailing Charity is looking for a full-time Fundraiser to join its small team. Job Opportunity – Fundraiser (full-time) at Horizons (Plymouth) Children’s Sailing Charity

“Horizons  (Plymouth)  is  a  Charitable  Company  Limited  by  Guarantee. It  has  been  registered  with the  Charity  Commission  since  1994  and has  an  annual  expenditure  of around  £120,000. Our  aim is  to  provide  children  from  the  inner-city  communities  of  Plymouth,  learning  and educational  opportunities  through  sailing.   We  particularly  aim  to  support  children  with  disabilities or  children  who  have  experienced  disadvantage  or deprivation.  Our activities  aim to  increase  self-confidence  and  improve  social  and  practical  skills,  through  water-based  pursuits,  that  would normally  be  beyond  the means of  these  children. We operate  with  a core  of  three  professional  staff,  together  with  a  large  group  of  adult  volunteers. Every  year  we  run  over  3,000  individual  sessions,  involving  hundreds  of  young  people  aged  8  to  19 years.

“The role of Fundraiser will be 40 Hours a week and starting salary is negotiable depending on experience.

“The Fundraiser will:

o Be responsible for all fundraising activities of Horizons to keep the charity viable. 
o Liaise with, coordinate, and oversee volunteers, primarily for any fundraising activity.
o Be responsible for developing both the client base and building the business case to ensure the continued growth, security, and long-term viability of Horizons, through fundraising activity and promoting the interests and ethics of the charity, and
o Develop new and creative opportunities and seek innovative pathways for funding growth which may require operating within the community.

“Practical sailing or powerboating qualifications and/or experience would be a bonus, but is not a necessity
