Ferne Animal Sanctuary, which is based in the beautiful Blackdown Hills in Somerset, provides a safe haven for unwanted domestic pets and farm animals, and where cats and dogs are also available for adoption.  

Ferne is currently seeking to recruit to the post of Digital Fundraiser. Please note that there is no application deadline for this role as applications will be considered as and when they arrive. Job Opportunity – Digital Fundraiser at Ferne Animal Sanctuary

o Reports to: Head of Fundraising.
o Interfaces: trustees, Chief Executive Officer, Senior Management Team, staff, supporters, external stakeholders, community, volunteers.

Purpose of Job:

As a Digital Fundraiser, you will be responsible for ensuring that all our digital communication and income generation is on message and maximises our income generation opportunities.

You will work across all forms of fundraising ensuring we maximise our digital exposure raising funds for the Sanctuary, developing community fundraising, Friends of Ferne, appeals and other key income streams.

In conjunction with the Head of Fundraising you will be responsible for growing our digital fundraising channels and seeking new opportunities to generate income for the sanctuary.

Working with the Head of Fundraising you will monitor and evaluate our campaigns taking on board any learning to improve our performance as well as providing feedback to the CEO and Board.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

o Support and develop imaginative fundraising activities, appeals and events ensuring a strong and focused digital component.
o Engage our existing supporters through high quality relevant digital content.
o Develop and deliver new content designed to bring new supporters on board.
o Work with the Head of Fundraising to manage the digital marketing budget.
o Inspire new community supporters to raise money while maintaining and developing existing community supporters.
o Support web-based fundraising initiatives including social media.
o Identify new opportunities for securing funds for the Sanctuary and prioritising these against existing workloads.
o Support and contribute to the fundraising strategy and annual business plan.
o Recruit and train digital volunteers where appropriate.
o Stay abreast of fundraising good practices and legislation, for example but not limited to Fundraising Regulators & Charities Act and ensure these changes are communicated to the CEO and Fundraising Board.
o Working with the Finance Manager to ensure that record keeping on etapestry is both are accurate and compliant with GDPR requirements and sanctuary policies.

GENERAL DUTIES

o Successful delivery of the income targets for community, grants and Friends of Ferne roles.
o Identifying issues that may impact on achieving the targets.
o Working closely with Head of Fundraising to maximise income generation.
o Contribute to FRM Committee meetings.
o Work with CEO and FRM Chair to construct the Agenda, attend and take minutes.
o Promote good relations with the general public.
o Support Visitor Services covering breaks and gaps in rotas where needed.
o Contribute towards the desired climate and wellbeing of employees working and living at the Sanctuary.
o Contribute to Website content, magazines and e-newsletters.
o Support all members of the fundraising team as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

o You will be expected to work occasional evenings and weekends where needed to support fundraising activities.
o A friendly and positive representation of the Sanctuary must be upheld at all times especially when working with visitors and members of the public.

o Excellent IT skills.
