The Community Council of Somerset (CCS) CCS is an award-winning, innovative and fast-growing charity, which is inspiring and enabling positive change for Somerset’s people, places and enterprises. The charity is based in Taunton.

CCS is currently seeking to recruit a Community Advisor (scroll down the page for details) for 24-35 hours per week for an initial 1 year term. The job advertisement reads:

“Job vacancy: Smart Communities Community Advisor

o Salary: £27,061 pro-rata.
o Hours: 24-35 hours per week.
o Location: Home based working, plus  CCS Office on regular basis & county wide
travel will be required.
o Contract: Initial 1 year contract.
o Length: Possible extension subject to funding.
o Holiday: 25 days per year plus bank holidays – pro rata
for part time staff.
o Reports to: Jane Birch, Smart Communities Manager.

Key tasks

o To deliver consultancy projects either individually or as part of a
team to include the tasks described in the job description.
o To enable community based organisations to develop their skills
and confidence in bid writing, governance, finance and planning so
they can thrive and grow.
o To identify income opportunities through your work and inform
line manager and to contribute as appropriate to developing bids/
