“We are seeking an inspirational Chief Executive Officer to join our independent charity: someone who shares our vision and values and thrives on making a positive difference to the people that we serve.

The opportunity to join as our new Chief Executive comes at an exciting time for Action East Devon. We are at a key point in our development after successfully adapting our ways of working during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are now seeking to grow our projects and services to support more people in East Devon.

We are seeking someone with experience of developing or leading strategy using a creative approach. Someone with high levels of emotional intelligence and the ability to influence, and who will bring management experience, having led, and empowered effective teams. Someone who will provide inspirational leadership to colleagues, enabling them to exceed expectations, ensuring a culture of collaboration.

As Chief Executive Officer, you will lead and guide a small team and support them to adapt and develop their roles to ensure sustainability and identify opportunities for new ways of working, delivering plans that meet our strategic aims.

Reporting to the Chair of Trustees, the Chief Executive Officer will support the Board of Trustees in fulfilling their responsibilities in the governance of the charity and will bring good strategic and analytical skills coupled with credibility, influence and persuasiveness to be the ‘face the charity’ in presenting events and working with our partners and key stakeholders.

As CEO you will need to be highly motivated to provide the inspiring leadership needed to ensure the charity further develops, and be able to support the organisation’s vision, mission and values.

You will be an experienced manager and have a proven track record of delivering high quality person-centred services; managing complex budgets; and working with colleagues from a range of organisations.

You will ideally have previous experience leading in the not for profit sector. However, we will also consider applications from people from a wider range of backgrounds.

If you have the ambition, credentials, and values to help steer our charity to the next level, we would like to hear from you.

To arrange an informal discussion about the role, please email the Chair of the Board of Trustees, Graham Fice, at
