“The Torbay Community Helpline was established to respond to the COVID pandemic. Over the past 2 years the Helpline has provided help and support to over 8,000 vulnerable individuals in the Bay with the support of 1,700 volunteers in the community and over 60 voluntary sector organisations.
“The Helpline has become a ‘front door’ to the support services that are available in Torbay.
“Following consultation, the Torbay Health and Wellbeing Voluntary Sector Network has decided to retain the Helpline to provide COVID-related, cost of living crisis and wider support.
“Currently managed by the Torbay Community Development Trust, the Helpline is now being staffed for the future and is now seeking some exceptional individuals to take this innovation forward alongside our Helpline Manger.
o As a Shift Leader/Triage Worker you will be part of the team that supports our volunteer call handlers while the Helpline is open, providing information and advice and ensuring the smooth running of the shift. The post also involves getting people to the right organisation to get the help they need.
o Our Call Handler post will answer calls from the public, record their details accurately and ensure they get passed onto the right triage worker to get them the support they need.
o Our Food Support Worker will engage with the families and individuals who are requesting food parcels.
