“Circles South West is an award-winning independent regional charity that works to prevent sexual abuse by reducing the risk of sexual re-offending. Our core work is the innovative community-based approach ‘Circles of Support and Accountability’, enabling local volunteers to positively impact on the safe integration of people who have sexually harmed, including young people with harmful sexual behaviour. Working closely with probation, youth offending teams, police, prisons and specialist organisations we provide a complementary risk management approach, making our communities safer. Alongside, we provide education and support programmes for the partners, families and friends of those who have sexually harmed, enabling them to become ‘protectors’. Our training and consultancy for professionals draws on our expertise in working in the field sexual harm to prevent sexual abuse.
“We seek to appoint motivated self-starters to rewarding part-time positions with the option to combine to a full-time role:
1. Training Coordinator, South West. £32k pro rata. Home based
o 17.5 hours (2.5 days) per week, fixed term to October 2023 (extension subject to further funding)
“With substantial experience, your flair for training will be underpinned by significant knowledge and practice experience in the field of sexual harm and sexual abuse prevention. You will lead the development and delivery of our training and consultancy offer designed to enhance the skills, knowledge and understanding of professionals, organisations and local communities, enabling them to effectively engage with people who sexually harm, and contributing more widely to the prevention of sexual abuse. It is anticipated that this post will be self-sustaining within 2 years.

You will be passionate about enabling young people to reach their potential with a deep understanding of the complexities. You will recruit, train, coordinate and supervise small groups of community volunteers to support young people (and families) for around 12 months, enabling them to make safe choices; take responsibility for their behaviour; engage in positive activities; improve their social connections; and enhance their self-worth. You will assess referrals, coordinate and monitor provision, and provide progress updates. Multi-agency work is essential and you will work closely with independent evaluators to facilitate a robust evidence base.
