The In Between Gallery is a temporary exhibition platform for Fabrica’s picture window in central Brighton.
Now in its 7th year, Fabrica is partnering with Spectrum Photographic, Photo Fringe and Jane & Jeremy to present excellent photographic work by UK-based artists who consider themselves to be early to mid-career.
The window faces directly onto Duke Street, one of Brighton’s busiest pedestrianised quarters, located between The Lanes and Churchill Square, two very popular shopping destinations. The main city centre pubs and clubs are also nearby so the street is normally busy into the evening and throughout the night.
Submissions must be received by Fabrica no later than 9.30am Monday 25th November 2024. The selected artist will be notified by 5pm on Friday 29 November 2024.
One artist/artist group and one image will be selected.
When submitting your images its worth knowing the practical factors that will influence the panelists decision:
1. Work in a square format fits well with the shape of the window.
2. Images that are predominantly light or bright: the window has a light filter on it which does not favour images that are predominantly dark or black and white.
The image would be exhibited from December 2024 – April 2025, though may be occasionally removed for very short periods around Fabrica’s venue hire commitments.
Information about the selected artist and the image will be featured on the Fabrica website and via promotional materials produced by Fabrica, Photo Fringe, Spectrum and Jane & Jeremy. The selected artist is also invited to do an Instagram Take Over, and give an artist talk at Fabrica’s annual Artist Talk & Photography Networking Event on Thursday 6 February 2025.
The selected artist will receive a fee of £220 plus travel costs to attend the Artist Talk & Photography Networking Event.
Please note that this opportunity is open to UK residents only.
Further information is available on the Fabrica website.
