The European Lung Foundation’s Healthy Lungs for Life Grants Programme 2026 is now open, offering funding to support initiatives that raise awareness and promote better lung health worldwide. The programme is designed to encourage initiatives that educate communities, promote preventive measures, and improve understanding of lung health.
The deadline for applications is Thursday 16th April 2026.
The programme focuses on raising awareness of lung health across all life stages, empowering individuals and communities to protect their lungs, and influencing policy and practice to reduce the global burden of lung disease, with a strong emphasis on prevention, early intervention, education, and supporting projects aimed at children and young people to build healthy habits early in life.
In 2026, two types of grants are available. Impact grants provide up to €1,000 ($865) for not-for-profit organisations, patient groups, and healthcare professionals to organise activities and events that promote lung health.
In addition, enhanced impact grants of €5,000 (£4,325) are available for organisations that have previously received funding and successfully delivered impactful projects, enabling them to expand or scale their initiatives for greater reach and long-term impact.
The programme is open to a wide range of applicants, including not-for-profit organisations such as respiratory societies, patient organisations, hospital trusts, and clinics, as well as healthcare professionals, schools, community groups, gyms, and sports centres. Individuals are eligible to apply only if they are affiliated with an appropriate organisation or institution.
The 2026 grant round opened in March, with successful applicants to be announced in May 2026, and funded activities expected to take place later in 2026.
