Grant programmes with application deadlines between Monday 11th December 2023 and Sunday 7th January 2024

Navigating the seasonal break during December can be a challenging time for preparing grant applications. 2023 is no exception with a large number of application deadlines scheduled for the end of December and early January 2024.

We’ve listed all national and South West England grant programmes with application deadline between Monday 11th December 2023 and Sunday 7th January 2024 below to help organisations plan any applications they may be thinking of making over the holiday season.

1. Grant programmes with application deadlines between Monday 11th December and Sunday 17th December 2023

Monday 11 December 2023
THE NATIONAL CHURCHES TRUST MEDIUM GRANTS SCHEME

Grants of between £3,000 and £10,000 are available for UK places of worship (including the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man) of any age and Christian denomination for urgent and essential maintenance and repair projects costing between £20,000 and £80,000.

THE PETPLAN CHARITABLE TRUST WELFARE GRANTS
Grants from £5,000 to £25,000 are available to UK registered charities towards the welfare of dogs, cats, horses, and rabbits. Grants are occasionally made to overseas projects.

THE WOLFSON FOUNDATION: HISTORIC CHRISTIAN CHURCHES FABRIC REPAIR GRANTS (SMALL PROJECTS)        
Grants of up to £10,000 are available to support fabric repairs in architecturally or historically significant church buildings in the Christian denomination across the UK. This application deadline is for projects with a total cost of between £20,000 and £80,000.

THE HEADLAND HOTEL COMMUNITY FUND (CORNWALL COMMUNITY FOUNDATION)

Grants of up to £2,000 are available to grassroots community organisations in Newquay, Cornwall and the surrounding area for projects that provide relief from crisis and support people in the area of mental health and wellbeing.

THE FORE TRUST          
Grants of up to £30,000 over 3 years are available to smaller registered charities, Community Interest Companies (CICs) and Community Benefit Societies to transform their impact by unlocking exponential growth, sustainability, efficiency or create some other major step forward. The Trust particularly encourages applications from smaller organisations working with marginalised groups and led by people in the community that may have found it hard to access Trust and Foundation funding in the past.

THE HEDLEY FOUNDATION LIMITED        
One-off grants of up to £5,000 (but averaging £2,500) are available to smaller UK registered charities working with the elderly, people with a mental or physical disability, those who are terminally ill, young people and social welfare projects, including those that benefit carers, the homeless and ex-offenders.

THE SOCIETY OF MERCHANT VENTURERS            
Capital and revenue grants of between £500 and £5,000 (with the occasional larger award) are available for charitable organisations providing projects to improve the quality of life of the people of Bristol.

ARTS COUNCIL ENGLAND: DEVELOPING YOUR CREATIVE PRACTICE ROUND 19
Grants of between £2,000 and £10,000 are available to support independent creative practitioners in England to research and development opportunities, build new networks and create new work.

EXETER COMMUNITY ENERGY   
Small grants of around £1,000 are available to local community groups in Exeter, East Devon, Mid Devon, Teignbridge and Torbay for projects that help to save energy and/or help to alleviate fuel poverty.

FINNIS SCOTT FOUNDATION      
Capital and revenue grants up to £10,000 are available to UK registered charities, Charitable Incorporated Organisations, Community Interest Companies, hospices and Parent Teacher Associations for projects in the areas of gardening and plant sciences, art history and fine art.

HELP THE HOMELESS GRANTS   
Capital grants of up to £5,000 are available for projects that help homeless people rebuild their lives and move towards a return to mainstream society.

THE INTERNATIONAL TREE FOUNDATION UK COMMUNITY TREE PLANTING PROGRAMME 2023/24
Grants and resources are available to support grassroots community projects across the UK that engage local people in tree planting.

THE IRONMONGERS’ TRUST COMPANY: GRANTS FOR CHARITIES         
Revenue grants averaging £5,000 are available to UK registered charities that are providing opportunities for disadvantaged children and young people aged 25 and under to help them to fulfil their potential.

WOODWARD CHARITABLE TRUST
Core revenue grants, generally up to £3,000, are available for smaller registered charities in the UK working to support disadvantaged families, isolated children and young people, and prisoners and ex-offenders.

THE ULVERSCROFT FOUNDATION            
Revenue grants. usually for under £5,000, are available for local and national UK and overseas not-for-profit organisations, including Community Interest Companies (CICs), libraries, schools, colleges and sports groups, for projects that benefit visually impaired people.

THE WINDRUSH DAY GRANT SCHEME 2024       
Grants of up to £50,000 are available to charitable organisations, Community Interest Companies and statutory organisations in England and Northern Ireland to commemorate, celebrate and educate people about the Windrush Generation and the contribution it has made to UK life.      

2. Grant programmes with application deadlines between Monday 18th December and Sunday 24th December 2023

MUSIC FOR ALL COMMUNITY PROJECT GRANTS
Grants and awards, usually equivalent to £1,500, are available to not-for-profit organisations, including schools, for projects that bring music into communities across the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

Tuesday 19 December 2023 at 12 noon. (This is the deadline for full applications. However, applicants must initially complete an Eligibility Quiz/Checklist by Thursday 14th December 2023 in order to be invited to submit a full application.)
THE CO-OP FOUNDATION YOUNG GAMECHANGERS FUND
Grants of up to £20,000 are available to UK groups or organisations with an annual income of less than £250,000 that can deliver youth-led projects and activities with and for young people aged 10-25. Partnership bids are welcomed. Individuals may also apply.

A small number of grants are available to registered charities, individuals and educational institutions in England, Scotland and Wales for projects that enhance the productivity of British Agriculture in order to meet the challenges of a growing world population and increased competition for resources.

THE ASHLEY FAMILY FOUNDATION          
Revenue grants, generally for under £10,000 and in some instances for up to 3 years, are available to registered charities in England and Wales for small scale arts and community projects, particularly in rural areas.

SEA-CHANGERS MARINE CONSERVATION SOCIALFUND 2023/24

A limited number of small grants of between £3,000 and £5,000 are available to UK charitable organisations, including registered charities and community groups, for projects that support or enhance participants’ health and well-being and/or deliver benefits for disadvantaged communities through marine conservation activity. Partnership proposals are welcomed.

THE PETS AT HOME FOUNDATION: RESCUE CENTRE GRANTS AND HELPING PEOPLE THROUGH PETS GRANTS
Grants from £250 with no upper limit are available to UK registered charities and not-for-profit organisations to support pet rescue centres and to rehome pets.

ADAMSON TRUST (THE CHILDREN’S CHARITY)   
Small grants, generally for £1,000 or less, are available for individuals, registered charities, charitable organisations and schools across the UK to assist with the costs of respite breaks or holidays for children aged over 2 and under 18 who are living with emotional, mental or physical challenges.

BARCLAYS COMMUNITY FOOTBALL FUND           
Grants of up to £500 are available to UK not-for-profit organisations, including community groups, youth groups and traditional football clubs, to make football more inclusive and accessible within communities.

THE BIG BIKE REVIVAL GRANTS PROGRAMME (CYCLING UK) AUTUMN 2023 ROUND    
Grants of up to £2,500 are available to a range of not-for-profit and charitably inclined organisations in England for projects that support people returning to cycling, starting as complete beginners, and people who do not cycle regularly.

BRITFORD BRIDGE TRUST           
Grants, generally for between £10,000 and £50,000, are available to UK registered charities working in the UK and/or overseas to prevent poverty, advance education, health and the arts, culture, heritage and science. UK charities working in the fields of community development, citizenship, amateur sports, the environment and supporting people in need will also be considered.

THE EDITH MAUD ELLIS 1985 CHARITABLE TRUST             
Seed funding grants of between £1,000 and £5,000 are available to UK registered charities, social enterprises and public bodies for innovative ideas in the UK or overseas that offer the potential to bring about a more peaceful, just and sustainable world.

Revenue grants of variable sizes are available to registered charities and Charitable Incorporated Organisations working in the UK and/or overseas in the areas of the arts, education, medical research and social welfare.

Grants of up to £4,000 are available for grassroots community organisations, including sports clubs and social enterprises across the UK to deliver sports activities within communities in which participating Greene King sites are located.

One-off grants, generally of between £250 and £1,500, are available to UK registered charities, not-for-profit organisations and individuals to assist the public performance of contemporary music and independent musicological research.

THE OCADO FOUNDATION FOR GOOD    
Grants of up to £1,000 are available to a wide range of not-for-profit organisations, including local authorities, across the UK to support skills development and/or sustainability projects that benefit local communities.

ROBERT CLUTTERBUCK CHARITABLE FOUNDATION             
Grants of up to £3,000 are available to registered charities in England and Wales that are supporting Armed Forces and ex-service personnel, as well as natural history and wildlife projects. Projects in Cheshire and Hertfordshire tend to be favoured, but not exclusively.

Awards of up to £15,000 are available to help social entrepreneurs across the UK aged 16 and over to start up or grow their idea for a social venture and develop their potential as social leaders.

YORKSHIRE BUILDING SOCIETY CHARITABLE FOUNDATION   
Project and equipment grants of between £250 and £2,000 are available to UK registered charities working to help relieve poverty, improve health and save lives.

THE PETER HARRISON FOUNDATION OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH SPORT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY PROGRAMME
Small Grants of up to £5,000 and Major Grants of between £5,001 and £30,000 are available to UK registered charities and Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASCs) for sports-based projects providing sport and physical activity opportunities for disadvantaged children and young people and/or people with a disability.

COMMUNITY RADIO FUND
Grants averaging £15,000 are available to support the core costs of running Ofcom-licensed community radio stations and Community Digital Sound Programmes in the UK.
