The Future for Nature Awards 2027 invites entries from young and dedicated conservationists across the world who are actively protecting wild species and creating tangible conservation outcomes.
The deadline for entries is Sunday 23rd August 2026.
The award scheme focuses on recognising individuals who have achieved substantial and long-term benefits for the conservation status of one or more wild species while demonstrating leadership, entrepreneurship, creativity, innovation, commitment, determination, passion, and a clear conservation vision.
The Future for Nature Awards are designed to support young conservation leaders whose ongoing efforts are making a real difference for biodiversity. The programme recognises individuals rather than organisations, programmes, or groups, and seeks to encourage conservationists who are committed to continuing their work in the future.
Each winner receives €50,000 (£42,842) along with the prestigious Future for Nature Award.
Applicants must be individuals and not organisations, programmes, or groups. Candidates must be born on or after 31 May 1992 and before 31 August 2008. They must have achieved significant and long-term conservation outcomes for one or more wild species, demonstrated leadership, creativity, commitment, integrity, and innovation in their work, and shown a strong intention to continue their conservation efforts. Applicants must also be able to communicate their conservation work effectively in English, both in writing and speaking.
The 3 selected winners will present their conservation work at the Future for Nature Awards event at Royal Burgers’ Zoo in Arnhem, the Netherlands, in May 2027.
Travel and accommodation expenses for the event will be covered by the Future for Nature Foundation. No administrative deductions may be made or claimed by parent or partner organisations.
