This week we’re looking at a range of free and discounted resources for not-for-profits under the headings of digital, social media, design, training and volunteers. The materials listed below originally appeared on the Lightful website, a technology company for social good. Not-for-profits can sign up for free to Lightful, but there is also a pricing structure if you’re interested in more of the resources on offer. Today’s article explores training opportunities and ways in which you can recruit volunteers and trustees.
Training
o FutureLearn – whilst not all courses are relevant to the charity sector or to digital, there are some gems here, such as the Digital Skills: grow your career course and Digital Skills: social media – and they’re free!
o Code Academy – want to learn how to code and build widgets or other cools things for your website? Or perhaps something on your website keeps breaking? Learn to code with Code Academy, online, for free.
Volunteers
o LinkedIn – you can find volunteers or trustees for your board, for free, via LinkedIn for Non-profits.
o The Media Trust – need to find skilled volunteers to help you with PR, media or any other communications? Find them through Media Trust, which is a charity itself.
