Department of Transport: Depot Charging Scheme – funding to support the uptake of zero emission HGVs, vans, and coaches across the UK (application deadline: 28th November 2025)

The Department of Transport’s (DoT) Depot Charging Scheme provides support to fleet operators on the costs of installing charging infrastructure for electric HGVs, vans and coaches at fleet depots.

The scheme aims to support the uptake of zero emission HGVs, vans, and coaches by part-funding the installation of charging infrastructure at fleet depots.

The scheme covers 75% of eligible costs (chargepoint, civil works, and where applicable – battery energy storage system or solar costs) incurred, up to a maximum of £1 million per organisation across all sites. There is no limit to the number of sites you can apply for, but the scheme is limited to one application per organisation.

Eligible costs supported through the grant are:

o The purchase cost of Charge Points of any type or speed – these will need to match your specific fleet and duty cycle requirements, and
o The costs of labour and materials required for the installation and energisation of the Charge Points including civil engineering work, electrical components and electrical contractor works.

The scheme is open to public and private sector fleets, local authorities and non-profit organisations, located in England, Scotland, Wales and/or Northern Ireland. The scheme is not available for the Isle of Man or the Channel islands.

The application window will close at 4pm on Wednesday 28th November 2025 or when funding has been exhausted (whichever is sooner), and works must be completed by Tuesday 31st March 2026.

Further information, including eligibility, objectives, supporting information and how to apply, is available on the Department of Transport website.

Support for the purchase of electric vans and HGVs is available through the Plug-in Van and Truck Grant.
