Benefact Group launches inaugural Charity Heroes Awards to recognise charities that make positive change (deadline for nominations: 26th July 2024)

The Benefact Group has announced its first ever Benefact Group Charity Heroes Awards, which are dedicated to celebrating and supporting charities who work tirelessly to make positive change. The Group will be looking to recognise achievements and projects that have taken place from January 2023 to June 2024 or longer-term projects delivered in 2024.

The awards are open to registered charities, not-for-profit organisations and Community Interest Companies (CICs) in the UK, Republic of Ireland, Channel Islands or the Isle of Man. 

Key dates are:

o Entries opened: Monday 17th June 2024.
o Entries close: Friday 26th July 2024.
o Shortlisted charities notified: beginning of September 2024.
o Awards luncheon: Thursday 28th November 28 2024 at the Tower of London. Two people from each shortlisted charity to attend the awards luncheon.

Winning charities in each category will win £5,000. Runners up in each category will win £1,000.

The categories are:

  1. Volunteer of the Year
    Judges will be looking for volunteers who have gone over and above, making positive impact for charities, dedicating their time and energy to a great cause.
  2. Climate Action Project
    Judges will be looking for charities which have inspired and motivated action to tackle the climate crisis.
  3. Local Community Initiative
    Judges will be looking for a project which has reached the heart of a local community to tackle a local issue.
  4. Digital Fundraising Initiative
    Judges will be looking for inspiring digital fundraising which has created new sources of income and motivated supporters.
  5. Small Charity, Big Impact
    Judges would like to hear from a small charity (with a turnover of less than £1m) who made a big impact.
  6. Charity Leader of the Year
    Judges will be looking for a charity CEO or other senior leader who is a role model for others by championing a cause and inspiring change.
  7. Colleagues’ Choice
    Benefact Group colleagues will be able to vote for their favourite charity from those presented by its ‘Giving Superstars’ (employees who have gone over and above supporting their favourite causes).
