244 charities across the UK given the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service

On Thursday 2nd June 2022, 244 recipients of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service were announced.

The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award granted to volunteers and sometimes refers to itself as the “MBE for charities”. 

Organisations that were recognised ranged from food banks and hospitals to village shops and horse riding schools. 

A list of all 244 awardees can be viewed on the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service website. 19 charities in the South West region were given the award, including:

o Bristol Autism Support.
o Cotswold Riding for the Disabled.
o Newquay Community Orchard.
o South Brent and District Caring.
o The Bus Shelter Dorset, and
o Wylye Valley Art Trail.

The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2023 is currently open to applications with a deadline of Thursday 15th September 2022.

In addition to the Queen’s Award, an additional one-off award for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee was launched in May 2022 and is asking for applications from national charities that support people aged 16-25. The deadline to apply to The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Volunteering Award is Friday 17th June 2022.
