The Small Charities Challenge Fund (SCCF) is open to small UK-registered charities and not-for-profit organisations with an annual income of less than £250,000. Grants of up to £50,000 are available for projects of up to 2 years for projects that focus on strengthening the capacity of grass-roots development organisations and work with the poor, vulnerable and most marginalised in eligible countries.
Organisations must demonstrate that their work:
o Aims to reach the most vulnerable or marginalised;
o Benefits one of the lowest 50 countries on the Human Development Index (HDI) (*excluding Syria, Afghanistan and Somalia) or countries that the Department for International Development (DFID) considers to have high or moderate fragility.
o Contributes towards the Global Goals;
o Considers DFID’s wider strategic objectives; and
o Supports the goals of UK Aid Direct.
The fund particularly welcomes applications for projects that work on securing better outcomes for widows.
The SCCF is a rolling fund, with reviews of applications every six months. The next deadline is 5pm on Thursday 28 March 2019.
